Learn to meditate

Meditation is often viewed as rather mysterious and esoteric, or not available to the ordinary person – and seen as something ‘other people’ do.

At Albany Yoga Room we do our best to de-mystify meditation and make it accessible to everyone. After all meditation is not about ‘doing something’ – it’s more about doing nothing and watching the process. It’s so simple a young child can do it.

With our hectic lifestyles learning to slow down is often challenging. However with the benefits of meditation now appearing as standard fare in many medical journals it is becoming more and more apparent that learning simple meditation techniques can have tremendous health benefits.

And for those of you looking for a deeper spiritual connection to yourself or the universe or a power greater than yourself, or indeed to God, there is only one place to look. And for that you need to meditate. Whether you are a complete novice when it comes to meditation, or you have been sitting for many years, we encourage you to come along to the meditation teachers who we are lucky enough to be able to host from time to time.

Meditation Thursdays 7.30am to 8.30am

A month of morning meditations using guided practices, pranayama (controlling the breath) and meditations from the Kundalini yoga tradition. We will first warm the body with a Salute to the sun and then set the mind for the day with meditation.

If you want to try a Raja yoga come along Tuesday night for Kundalini Yoga.
