Trained in Iyengar and various other styles, Deborah has been teaching at the Albany Yoga Room since 2001. Her patience and gentle approach are widely appreciated by students.
Originally from South Africa, Deborah arrived in New Zealand with her family in 1998. Her interest in yoga and all things holistic began in the 1970′s but it was 1984 before she was able to devote herself wholeheartedly to a regular yoga practice.
Deborah followed the teachings of Swami Sivananda until 1990 when she was introduced to the Iyengar style which she has assimilated into both her own practice and her teaching. She is a student of Donna Farhi and also incorporates some of Donna’s work.
Shortly after the Albany Yoga Room opened in 2000 Deborah began her teacher training there, and she continues to read, investigate and study further, attending workshops with senior teachers of various different styles of yoga.
Deborah also has a deep interest in various alternative therapies and is a highly trained macrobiotic cook.
